External Fusion Toroidal Generator
A downloadable SFAS Entry
An introduction
Many early projects for fusion generators focused upon sending huge amounts of electricity around inside a torus - the internal fusion torii. These were eventually made to work, but almost as soon as they entered service, they were superseded by the external fusion torii.
No-one's quite sure how they work, but by a happy accident in wiring, it was discovered that having the fusion happen in the hole in the middle of the torus instead of through the body of it, efficiency was increased tenfold. By having it levitate aboard your spacecraft, you are able to further gain a high-mass gyroscope for improved inertial navigation. The only minor inconvenience is that there's a large spinning mass throwing plasma around in your engine room.
The actual introduction
This is my entry to the Search for a Star 2022 VFX competition.
Controls
To set the speed of the torus, type "ce Generator_SetSpeed <speed to set it to>" The generator is intended to go between 0 and a thousand, but it is possible to tell it to faster than that if you choose.
Alternatively, you can press the "R" and "F" key to cycle through speeds (Up and down, respectively)
The generator is designed for 0 to be off, 100 to be the idle, 500 to be the primed state, and 1000 to be full operational speed.
